Virginia Kay Lester Lampman Masengill, age 84, passed away on December 30, 2025 at 9:31 a.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Edith Lester, first husband, Edward Lampman, second husband, James Luke Masengill, sister, Jean Hensley, and brother, Ronnie Lester.
Kay is survived by daughter, Leslie Pratt, son-in-law, Brian Pratt, granddaughters, Kayla (Alex) Dobbins, Cyara Pratt, Brianna (Anthony) Chapman, great granddaughter, Aurora Vivian Dobbins, several cousins, friends, relatives, and former students.
Kay graduated in the class of 1959 from Jefferson County High School. In 1963, she earned a BS Degree from East Tennessee State College and began a career teaching Elementary Ed for 36 ½ years in Florida, Atlanta, and New Market. Thirty of the years were spent in New Market, her favorite. She earned a Masters Degree in 1979.
She belonged to the Community Fellowship in Christ Church. Previously a member of George St. United Methodist Church in Jefferson City from the age of 9.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026 at Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens with Sammy Solomon officiating.
