Sherry Lane

Sherry Lane, age 60 of Dandridge (formerly of Shortt's Gap, Virginia) passed away suddenly on July 2, 2026.

Instinctively, she was a caregiver and a lady of great compassion. She worked tirelessly in a number of adult group homes and with disabled veterans. She will be remembered for her love of family; especially her grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Lane; and her husband, Herbert McCoy. She is survived by her mother, Juanita Lane; siblings, Jan (Dallas) Jones & Veronica Perkins; children, Heather Lane, Jessica (Joel) Knuth, Kayla (Jeremy) Hess, Chris (Ashley) Banuelos, and Katy (JayJ) Rife; stepdaughter, Catherine (Jeff) Boyd; grandchildren, Breanna Hess, Makinna Hess, Connor Hess, Lukas Lane, Kyleigh Rife, Matthew Knuth, Hoyt Lane and Cole Lane; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

Pastor Troy Lester will officiate the funeral service which will take place at 4PM, Tuesday July 7, 2026, at Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge. Burial will take place at the Morgan McCoy Family Cemetery near Hurley, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the family to help ease the burden of funeral expenses.
