Sarah L. Whitmire, born May 22, 1936, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, September 5, 2021. She was a member of Community Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Talbott where she taught Sunday School and directed Bible School for many years. Sarah grew up in Cumming, GA. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Blanch and Clarence Mundy, son, Bradley Whitmire, brothers and sister, Jr and Donald Mundy and Opal Walls. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Guy R. Whitmire, daughters, Robin (Freddie) Walker and Angie (Mickey) Purkey, special granddaughter, Deana (Edwin) Musser, grandchildren, Kerrie Farrow, Jerrie Sinock, Candice Owens, Lacey Hall, Laura Craig, Travis (Jayme) Owens, and Robby (Chassie) Walker. Special thank you to Nurse, Sherman McKinney and CNA, Felisha Stewart and all the staff at Smokey Mountain Hospice. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Community Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Gary Norton and Rev. Dennis Caldwell officiating. Graveside interment service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Community Chapel Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Sarah?s name to the Alzheimer?s Foundation, The Gideons International, or Eternal Truth Church Building Fund, C/O Pastor Tommy Stephon, 4134 Clyde Thomas Rd., Morristown, TN 37813.
