RONALD LEE “RONNIE” NOONKESSER, age 77 of Dandridge, TN passed away Thursday morning, July 2, 2026, at the Ben Atchley Home for Veterans of Knoxville following an extended illness. He grew up in the Chestnut Grove community where he enjoyed working on the family farm with his uncles and repairing farm equipment. He worked and retired from JTekt of Morristown. Ronnie was a graduate of Maury High School and then joined the U.S. Army being a member of the First Calvary Division that served in Vietnam during 1968 and 1969. He returned home from the military and married Sharon Phipps Noonkesser his beloved wife of 50 years who preceded him in death in 2020. They had two children, the late Barry Noonkesser (2021) and is survived by his daughter, Myra Whittaker. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Mackenzie and Brooklyn Noonkesser and Aden Whittaker; sister, Deborah Noonkesser and several cousins. Ronnie was also preceded in death by his parents, James A. Noonkesser and Dorothy Barbee Noonkesser; special aunt, Faye Townsend and special uncles, Robert, Cecil, Dee, and Mayford Noonkesser. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 5, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00pm at Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge. Graveside services with military honors will be held Monday, July 6, 2026, 10:00am at Hillcrest Cemetery with the V.F.W. Post 5266 rendering honors and Pastor Charles Shipley sharing words of comfort.
