Robert Terrence Backer
Robert Terrence Backer, 78, went home to be with God on July 16, 2026, in Morristown TN. He was born in Glen Ridge, NJ on December 27, 1947. After serving in the army and earning a Master’s Degree, he worked as a public administrator in Wichita, KS, St. Petersburg, FL and Jacksonville, FL. Then he retired to Jefferson City, TN.
He is preceded in death by Hazel Roll Backer (mother) and Terrence Boag Backer (father).
Robert is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janice W. (Neice) Backer; his son, William (LeeAnn) Backer, St. Petersburg, FL; his daughter, Shannon (David) Tuell and their children Annabel and Jonathan, Jefferson City, TN; and his sister Kathleen (Backer) Wintersgill, New Port Richey, FL.
Celebration of life service will be at Manley Baptist Church in Morristown, TN on August 9, 2026 with receiving friends and family starting at 3:00 p.m., followed by the service at 4:00 p.m.
