Patricia “Patsy” Hatmaker age 86 passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose life was defined by love, kindness, and service to others. She loved her family deeply, especially her grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life. Her greatest happiness came from spending time with those she loved and watching her family grow.
Patsy loved the Lord and was a member of New Market Baptist Church, where she especially loved working with the children either by keeping the nursery, helping with choir, or working in Bible School. She was a former member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for several years.
Known for her warm and friendly nature, she truly never met a stranger. She had a generous heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand, often going out of her way to assist someone in need. Her compassion, kindness, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Throughout her professional career, she worked for United Cities Gas Company and later Heritage Propane. She dedicated many years to the industry, serving in leadership roles as an Office Manager and Regional Manager. She was respected for her strong work ethic, professionalism, and commitment to excellence.
She is survived by her daughter, Shea Fitzpatrick (Travis); her son, Kevin Hatmaker (Teresa); her beloved grandchildren Natalie, Hannah, Brody, Hailey, and Gracie; her loving sister, Jeannie Farrow; and her very special niece, Terri Farrow, and a lifetime friend who was often her partner in crime throughout the years Rosemary Bailey as well as many other cherished family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Florence Bates; her brothers, Calvin Bates, Edwin Bates, and Bob Bates; and her sisters Pollye Eller, Reba White, Meredith Nelson, and Catherine Killion.
Her legacy of love, generosity, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever treasured by her family and friends.
There will be a graveside service on Friday, June 12 at 11:00a.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. All friends and family are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to C.A.R.E.
