Mary Evelyn Frye

Mary Evelyn Rymer Frye, a servant of Christ went to her heavenly home at the age of 81 on June 5, 2024. She was born to Grace (DeVault) and Joseph Howard Rymer on March 28, 1943. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother; Joseph Rymer, sisters; Shirley Rymer Wippel and Barbara Rymer Watt. She was raised in Knoxville as a member of Second Methodist Church, where she was baptized by Dr. George Creswell, who also baptized her husband, Prentis “Max” Frye II, and conducted their marriage on July 19, 1969. They later moved to Dandridge in 1973 and became members of Shady Grove Methodist Church where they raised their three children, Prentis Max Frye III, Conard Howard Frye, and Tonia Michelle Frye (Marcus) Hodsden; three grandchildren, Julianna Grace and Theron Maxwell Frye, whose mother is Jill Henry-Frye; and John Tucker Williams, whose father is Dustin Williams. She had several beloved nieces and nephews. Mary was a long-time employee of Jefferson County Assessor of Property Office. She later became a pastor’s wife when Max started his calling in 2008 and later became an elder in the Global Methodist Church in 2024. The Frye family would like to extend their thanks to Tennova Hospice for the care, love, and respect shown to Mary and for their continual care of her during her last days. The receiving of friends will take place at Shady Grove Church Global Methodist at 1675 Harold Patterson Road, Dandridge, on Friday, June 7, from 2-4 p.m. and 5-7 p.m., with the funeral immediately following. Dr. Jason McIntosh will be officiating. The graveside service will take place at Shady Grove Cemetery, conducted by Dr. Sam Dzobo at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 8. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Shady Grove Church Cemetery Fund.
