Martha Kate “Katy” Skeen Hodges, age 100, born on November 24, 1924 in Knoxville, TN gained her Heavenly wings on May 14, 2025. The family moved to Jefferson City in 1938 where her father opened a furniture store. Katy was a long-time member of First Baptist Church since 1938 where she served as a Sunday school teacher and deacon. Katy graduated from Carson Newman College and was a past president of Les Amies and Monday Literary Club. She was also a member of San Souci, Community College Council and Christian’s Women’s Club. Katy loved spending her extra time playing bridge, bowling and was a hiking enthusiast. She traveled to many countries and made several trips to the Holy Land and led an exemplary Christian life that was admired by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William Albert “Dub” Hodges; parents, Hubert A. and Maude Crye Skeen; brother, Carl (Julia) Skeen; son, Kurt Hodges; and grandson, Stephen Craig. Katy is survived by son, Timothy Andrew Hodges; grandchild, Nicole Lynn (Taylor) Wyrick; great-grandchildren, Ty Hodges, Molly Hodges, Katie Wyrick, Hadassah Wyrick, Eden Wyrick and Jediah Wyrick; and brother, Douglas (Helen) Skeen. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Agape Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 20, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City. A graveside service will follow at 1:30p.m. at Westview Cemetery with Rev. Ray Lloyd and Rev. Major Treadway officiating.
