Margaret “Peggie” Corbett, 81, of Dandridge, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31, 2026. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Serdel Corbett, and her parents, Roy and Ruth Baker. She is survived by her brother, Thomas (Janice) Baker of Barcelona, Spain; her sister, Kay (Larry) Burgin of Kemblesville, Pennsylvania; and her daughters, Beth Ballinger (Jimmy) and Rebecca Campbell. She also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren: Daniel Price, Caleb (Rachel) Ballinger, David (Paige) Price, Nicholas (Madeline) Ballinger, Carissa Ballinger, and Gretchen Hunley. Her two great-grandchildren, Nadiline Courtney and Titus Ballinger, brought an unmistakable spark to her eyes and immense joy to her heart. Peggie was known throughout the community for her compassion and dedication as a registered nurse at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, where she faithfully served for 39 years. Through her work, she touched countless lives with kindness, skill, and tireless care. Her servant’s heart extended far beyond her profession, as she lovingly cared for her mother-in-law, Josie Riley Corbett, her own parents, and her husband until they were called home. Peggie devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family throughout her life. She was especially known for hosting Thursday night dinners, gathering loved ones around the table for meals, games, laughter, and cherished time together. She enjoyed traveling, giving thoughtful gifts, dining out, and, above all, doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family, friendship, and her love for the Lord were the cornerstones of her life, and her legacy of faith, love, and devotion will continue to inspire all who knew her.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 3, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge with a funeral service to follow at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Jimmy Inman officiating. Burial services will be held on Thursday, June 4, at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in Dandridge.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to ALPS Adult Day Services, 600 N. Daisy Street, Morristown, TN 37814, or to True Life Church, 860 E Hwy 11E, Jefferson City, TN 37760. The family extends special thanks to the staff of ALPS, as well as the Amedisys hospice nurses, social workers, and caregivers, for the exceptional care and compassion they provided.
