Lawrence James Bitz

Lawrence James Bitz, age 81, of Jefferson City, TN passed away on September 26, 2025 after a brief illness. He served his country in the Marines before becoming a deputy sheriff in Michigan. He later retired from Lowes where he worked for many years. 

Larry is preceded in death by his son, Randall Allen Bitz; stepdaughter, Sharon Clayton; parents, Edward and Loretta Bitz; and many siblings. He is survived by his wife of 33years, Linda Bitz; children, Deena Powers and Roger Bitz; stepchildren, Scott (Lora) Clayton, Greg (Windy) Clayton, and Tara Clayton; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Francis (Carolyn) Bitz, Ronnie (Sharon) Bitz and Nancy (Randy) Angerer; and sister-in-law, Shirley Bitz.

A military graveside service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery with Volunteer State Honor Guard and Rev. Larry Dial officiating.
