Larry J. Sandles, age 67 of Baneberry, TN; formerly of Punta Gorda, FL; died peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, surrounded by family. Larry was born in Batavia, New York to Les and Nancy Hills Sandles. Larry is survived by his wife, Joan (Joni) Hammer Sandles; son,  Nicholas (Nick) Sandles and daughter, DeShea Sandles both of Tallahassee, Florida; son, Tate Sandles of Pensacola, Florida; very special aunt, Sharon Hills of Baneberry, TN; sister, Roxanne Neel (Dale) of Norwalk, Ohio; sister, Sonya Mohney of Baneberry, TN; father, Les Sandles, of Sandusky, Ohio; beloved brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; as well as cousins and second cousins. Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Hills Sandles, niece, Amy Haynes, cousin, Regen Hills, and incredible parents-in-law, Ray and Peg Hammer.

Larry was co-owner principal of Five Star General Contracting, AR Homes SandStar and SandStar Companies before retiring December 31, 2017. Larry was past president of the Charlotte DeSoto Builders Industry Association, Charlotte County Chamber, sat on numerous boards, and committees in both Charlotte County and the City of Punta Gorda. Larry was a 35 year active member of Burnt Store Presbyterian Church in Punta Gorda. Larry was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and fought hard for 13 months. The family would like to thank Dr. David Schumaker, Tennessee Cancer Specialists, Morristown, TN; Dr. David Aljadir and team, UT Cancer Center, Knoxville, TN; as well as Dr. Minoo Battiwalla and team, Sarah Cannon Cancer Center, Nashville, TN for unwavering support, dedication, and most of all friendships during this journey.

To our hundreds of prayer warriors, family, friends, and churches in FL and TN for the endless outpouring of love, cards, messages, letters, phone calls, and gifts, we will never forget such kindness. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation in Larry’s memory to First Christian Church (renovation fund) 155 Parker Road, Morristown, TN 37813 or a charity of your choice. A service is being planned for later in the year.
