Katy McNish Miller

KATY MCNISH MILLER, age 93 of Talbott, TN passed away unexpectantly and peacefully at her home on Tuesday August 24,2021. Born and raised in Jefferson City she graduated from Jefferson High School and married her high school sweetheart, Donald Miller. They moved to Morristown in 1959. Together they raised a family until his passing in 1995. Katy returned to live in her native Jefferson County in 2002. Katy?s lifework was a mama and grandmama. She exemplified 1Cor 13:13 ?And now abide faith, hope, and love; but the greatest of these is love.? She raised three daughters and helped raise grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great- great grandchildren. A voracious reader, she read two newspapers every day and lots of books. Some of her favorites were Christian fiction novels. But her favorite reading was her Bible. You could see her every day spending time in God?s Word, her In Touch devotion, and her Sunday School book. Her favorite passage in God?s Word was Colossians 2:10: ?and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.? She enjoyed puzzles and games working the JUMBLE in the newspaper everyday right through age 93. Katy shared newspaper stories with family members she knew they would be interested in and she would share a comic strip she thought particularly funny. And she planned to be in her recliner every weeknight at 7 PM to watch and play along with Wheel of Fortune. Katy was a member of Alpha Baptist Church, Morristown. She was a member of the Donna Cannon Sunday School Class and loved Donna and all the ladies in her class and they loved her very much too. In her earlier years she worked in the preschool and loved all the children very much. In addition to her husband, Donald, she was preceded in death by her parents: Mack L McNish, Sr and Minerva McNish, brothers: Junior McNish and Bob McNish and sisters: Eula McNish and Polly Everhart, daughter and son-in-law: Beverly and John Knisley, and great-great granddaughter Paisley Kay McGeorge. Katy is survived by daughters and sons in law, Kay and Mickey Fawbush and Sheri and Ronnie Sartain; grandchildren, Marc Knisley (Tracee), Daniel Knisley, Kelly Johnston (Anthony), and Lindsey Nolen (Kenny; great grandchildren, Karlee Knisley, Mason Knisley, Caleb Johnston (Maddie), Matthew Johnston, Taylor Dennis, and Ryan Nolen; great-great grandsons, who affectionately call her ?grandmom,? Skyler McGeorge and Pierson Emery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, August 27, 2021 between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to pay respects and sign the register.
