James Lloyd Thomas

James Lloyd Thomas, age 92 of Jefferson City, TN passed away at 9 a.m. Friday, November 8, 2002 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Jefferson City and was a member of the American Legion Post #113 of Jefferson City. He was the son of the late Jacob Alexander Thomas and Mattie Lee Chambers Thomas and was also preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Irene Thomas Wood and Love Evelyn Thomas Emert; and brother, Sanford Thomas. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the sisty-first US Naval Construction Battalion (Seabees) Platoon A. Headquarters Company. He was employed for the TVA in the 1940's after the war. Following the war, Mr. Thomas was the owner and operator of Thomas Service Station in the early 1950's. Later, he worked for Magnavox and retired from there in 1975. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gladys Louise Williams Thomas of the home; daughter, Sabrina Diane Thomas of Jefferson City; special niece, Betty Wood Burnette of Knoxville; special nephew, Tom Wood of Brentwood, TN; special cousin, B. Calvin Thomas of Knoxville; several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday Novembe 10, 2002 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens with Rev. Stuart Albee officiating. Military honors will be given by the Volunteer State Honor Guard. Family and friends may call at their convenience at the family home on Saturday.
