Knoxville his major employment was spent in the agriculture field as field representative for Stokely Van Camp and Moody Dunbar Canners. He had a deep Christian faith and brings us joy knowing that God’s arms embrace him. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean Horner Sterling; and two children, John H. Sterling, and Kathy Lynn Jones (Stacy), and their son, Alex. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Grace Hayes Sterling Gass; grandson, Jacob Houston Sterling Gass; granddaughter, Sydney Sterling Bardo (Chris); and the two great-grandchildren, Kinsleigh and Kohen. He is also survived by three sisters, Nancy Austin, Sue Green and Betty Daugherty; and several nieces and nephews in the Sterling family. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2022 inside the mausoleum at Jefferson Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jerry Jones officiating.
