Mayford James Jett, age 94, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. Mayford was a humble farmer, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He retired from Magnavox to his hobby farm on Koppick Knob. He was a member and deacon of Mountain View Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Margaret Paschal Jett, son and daughter in law, James R. and Evonne Jett, parents, John and Nannie Jett, sisters and brothers in law, Dorothy and Luke Stapleton and Thelma and F.M. Hopper. He is survived by his daughter, Fonda (David) Jett White, grandchildren, James R. (Heather) Jett, Jonathon B. Jett, Samuel F. (Amanda) Jett, Weston R. White, and Trenton D. (Lauren) White, loving great granddaughters, Savannah Grace Jett, Adalie Nicole Godfrey, Charlotte Christy Jett, and Lillian James Jett, honorary family members, Dale and Mary Frances Pendergrass. One of Mayford’s greatest joys was sharing stories from years past. His favorite encouragement was to reach for the stars as you never know when you might catch one. He gave thanks to his Lord and Savior daily as he felt so blessed in this life. The devotion of his friends and family was a testament to the person he was. The family appreciates the care the residents of Koppick Knob and Stevens Road extended to Mayford. Thank you to Harvey Rines for the many breakfast outings, this made Dad’s day. We will be forever grateful to Trent and Lauren White for moving in and caring for “Pappaw”. I hope you cherish the memories forever. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Farrar Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Chambers and Joe Hutsell officiating. Graveside service will follow at Mountain View Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
