Hugh Jarnigan "J" Moser

HUGH JARNIGAN “J” MOSER, of Jefferson City, TN passed away on May 24, 2024. “J” was a farmer, which he loved doing. He  loved his family, his community, and Jefferson County. He loved his employees like family and had many longtime devoted employees. He attended Faith Baptist Church, and loved horseback riding. “J” started Tennessee Valley Resources in the 1980’s, where he sold agricultural lime throughout the southeast. He was a founding member of First Peoples Bank and served on numerous bank boards from Knoxville to Greene County. He was a long time partner in Darby House Retirement House with Larry Musick and Dr. Sam Thompson. He was a soil conservationist, and an avid field trialer. He was appointed to the Tennessee Higher Education Committee by Governor Bill Lee. Preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Racine Moser; good friend, Larry Musick; and cousin, John Moser. He is survived by his wife, Susan Moser; daughters, Kate Hickey (Jason), and Libby Moser; son, Jake Moser (Roxanne); grandchildren, Jarret Moser (Carissa), Jackson Moser, Jonas Moser, Ben Hickey, and Samantha Hickey (David); sister and brother-in-law, Ann Watson (Stuart); nephews, Doug Watson (Misty), and David Watson (Jenny); mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ronald and Carolyn Laws; sister-in-law, Rhonda Sane (Larry); niece, Ashtyn Brooks (Blake); and too many friends to mention. Memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Faith Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Campbell and Dr. Charles Fowler officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
