Huey Darrell Blondell

Huey Darrell Blondell, 86 of Jefferson City, Tennessee, left this world for his heavenly home on Thursday, October 22, 2026. 

He was born in Cumberland, Kentucky, to Coy Walter and Ella Mae (Fins) Blondell. He married Betty Sue Baker on September 10,1966, and she preceded him in death on October 26, 2021.

Darrell grew up in the coal-mining town of Lynch, Kentucky, with his siblings Don, David, and Doris, all of whom preceded him in death. He was proud to have been named an All-State linebacker while playing for Lynch High School. Darrell faithfully preached the gospel for more than 50 years in Southern Indiana and East Tennessee. He was also retired from Westinghouse in Bloomington, Indiana.

Darrell is survived by a son, Jr. (wife Natalie) Blondell of Bedford, Indiana; a son-in-law, Shannon Phelps of Norman, Indiana; and grandchildren, Krysta Hendrix, Coy Blondell, Samantha Hendrix, Cassidy (husband Ryan) Kirk, Alex Robbins, Jessie Phelps, and Sarah Phelps as well as great-grandchildren Sahara, Olivea, Zachary, Elijah, and Brendi Sue Kirk; and several step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two dear friends, Linda Bell and Linda Moody, who have been a great blessing to him in these last years.

In addition to Betty, his parents, and siblings, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Ella Marie Phelps, who passed recently on August 24, 2026.

Visitation will be held at Grace Baptist Church of Dandridge on Monday, October 26, 2026 from 4PM until 7PM. A funeral service will take place at the church at 11AM Tuesday morning, October 27, 2026. Interment with military honors will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
