Helen Taylor Quarles passed away at the age of 81 on September 26, 2025. She died at home in Maryville, Tennessee, surrounded by her family. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, William Burnett and Louise Noe Taylor, and her brother, William Graham Taylor. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, George William Quarles, Jr., who had been her constant companion since they became a couple as high school students at White Pine High School. She is survived by her sons, George (Leslie) Quarles, Taylor (Robin) Quarles, her daughter, Amy Quarles (Josh) Landers, and her grandchildren, Mary Rene Quarles, Jack and Beau Quarles, and Graham Landers. She is also survived by her sister, Carolyn Taylor (Ted) Raymond. Helen had many cherished friendships from her childhood, her career as a teacher, and through her faithful years of service at First Baptist Church of Jefferson City. Most of all she was the treasured linchpin of her family, beloved by her husband, children, grandchildren, sister, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Even as they grieve this profound loss, they rejoice that Helen is in heaven where she will glorify God and enjoy Him forever. A Celebration of Life service will take place at 4:00 at First Baptist Church in Jefferson City on Sunday, September 28. Visitation will be held two hours before the service. Memorials may be made to the Jefferson City Public Library.
