Harold H. Cromwell, age 83 of Dandridge, passed away on August 29, 2026. Born September 27, 1942 in Burrville, TN, he was the son of Carl F. Cromwell and Martha Cromwell.

Harold was a man of intelligence, determination, and curiosity. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Master's Degree in Engineering Management. His career in Oak Ridge spanned work at Y-12, K-25, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where he spent decades of dedicated service before retiring.

Harold married Carol Jean Cromwell, the love of his life, and together they shared 67 years of marriage; building a family grounded in loyalty, humor, and resilience. In addition to Carol, Harold is survived by his daughter Tonya Carla Kenley (& husband, Bryan) of Dandridge; son, Keith Alexander Cromwell (and wife, Khanh) of Dandridge; grandson, Kristofer Cromwell Kenley (& wife, Heidi) of Knoxville; brother, Carl Cromwell (& wife, Linda) of Fuquay-Varina, NC; brother-in-law, Samuel Varga (& wife, Maida) of Lancing; and nephews, Bobby Branstetter, Randy Branstetter, Mitchell Branstetter, and Kevin Cromwell. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marilyn Cromwell and Jean Branstetter; and brother-in-law, Willard Branstetter.

Harold lived a life marked by accomplishments. He rebuilt a 1955 Dodge truck, transforming it into what he proudly called his "1976/55 Dodge Truck". He built his own electric car, long before electric vehicles became popular. He was a private pilot, a sailboat captain, and a man who loved adventure - whether flying, motorcycling, boating, exploring on ATVs, camping, or scuba diving. Harold enjoyed working with both his mind and his hands, always eager to understand how things worked and how they could be improved. He always cherished the lake and mountains around his home.

A Celebration of Life will be held October 3, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at a private residence in Dandridge, TN. Details regarding the location will be provided via social media. Friends and family are invited to gather in a casual setting to share memories and honor Harold in the lakeside, mountain-view setting he cherished.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital... or the Jefferson County Rescue Squad (915 Industrial Park Road - Dandridge, TN 37725)

Harold will be remembered for being "rough and tough, hard to bluff, and used to hardship"... a phrase he often shared with a grin. A dear friend fondly remarked that Harold "knew five words of every song", often singing snippets like, "Hello Darkness, My Old Friend"..., "Rah-Rah Rumble Seat And Running Board"..., or "Sunday Mornin' Coming Down"... His humor, resilience, and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Farrar Funeral Home of Dandridge is honored to serve the Cromwell family.
