Glenda Ruth "Lawson" Byrd

Glenda Lawson Byrd, 85, of Jefferson City TN, passed away on May 28^th, 2024, at Tennova Turkey Creek after a fight against pneumonia. She was a member of First Baptist Church Dandridge and Buffalo Grove Baptist Church and retired from First Peoples Bank in Jefferson City where she held many positions, including branch manager and public relations officer after 30 years of service.  She also served on the Jefferson City planning commission for a number of years.  

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Bobby Dean Byrd, her brothers Raymond Lawson and Melford Lawson, her parents Rev. Luther Lawson and Mozelle Lawson. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Regina Byrd of Jefferson City and Scott and Carla Byrd of Dandridge; grandsons, Brandon (Krystal) Byrd, Colton Byrd, Jackson Byrd, and Hayden Byrd and granddaughter, Kendra (Braylin) Watson; great-granddaughters, Emily Griffis, Paighton Griffis, Anna Byrd, Katie Byrd, and Layla Watson; brothers and sisters, Donnie Lawson, Rev. Luther Rodney (Nedra) Lawson, Vera (Tommy) Moore, and Teresa Lawson; sister-in-law, Charlene Lawson; several nieces and nephews; and a special thanks to all those friends and extended family that has been a part of Glenda’s life. The family would also like to extend our special thanks to our friends and families at Signature Lifestyles Jefferson City. We would also like to thank Gentiva Hospice Services.

Family and friends will gather at 10:45a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for a 11:00a.m. graveside funeral service with Dr. Justin Terrell and Rev. John Pinkston officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, June 3, 2024, from 4:00p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the widows and widowers ministry at First Baptist Church Dandridge or to Buffalo Grove Baptist Church general fund.
