Frank McNutt Clamon Jr.

FRANK McNUTT CLAMON, JR. passed away on August 23rd, 2021. Frank was born on August 16, 1940, in Kingsport, Tennessee. He was the son of Frank Clamon, Sr. and Inez Lawson Clamon of Rogersville, Tennessee who preceded him in death. Frank was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Dandridge where he taught adult men's Sunday school for over 30 years. Frank is survived by his sons, David (Sophie) and Alex (Neda) Clamon; their mother, Carol Clamon; and his four grandchildren Elizabeth, Cora, Susanna, and Edward. Following his childhood in Rogersville and Kingsport, Frank graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1963, earned a Master's degree from the University of Tennessee in 1964, and received a Doctor of Education from North Carolina State University in 1986. Throughout his working life, Frank worked in the aerospace, industrial, and nuclear energy industries, and also taught at Appalachian State University and Walters State Community College. In semi-retirement Frank was an adjunct professor at Carson-Newman and also Walters State. Frank moved to Dandridge in 1981 and raised his family there. He went on to serve as a Jefferson County Commissioner for multiple terms and also volunteered extensively for the Jefferson County Adult Education Program. An avid historian, Frank was an active member of the Jefferson County Historical Society and other various historical, antique automobile, and preservation societies and groups. A Christian father to his family, a teacher to many, and friend to all, Frank will be dearly missed. A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at First Baptist Church, Dandridge, with a funeral service to follow at 6:00pm with Reverend Dr. Justin Terrell officiating. The interment will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 11:00am at McKinney Cemetery in Rogersville, TN. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church of Dandridge or the Dandridge Ministerial Association.
