Frances Whitaker James

FRANCES WHITAKER JAMES, age 94 of Dandridge, TN went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 14, 2026. She was a faithful member of the Greenway Church of God in Knoxville, TN where she served as church secretary and other ministries of the church for many years. Frances and her beloved Husband, Scott moved to Dandridge to their home on Douglas Lake for the remainder of their lives. After moving to Dandridge she became a member of the Edgemont Church of God where she became a very dedicated member of the ladies’ ministries.

Frances was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Scott James; parents, John S. and Jewell Whitaker; brothers, J.S, Bruce and Noonie Whitaker and sister, Betty Liston; step-sons, Dennis and Michael James and she is survived by her step-son Steve and Renee’ James who were her caregivers; step daughter-in-law, Tammy James and brother-in-law, Jimmy Liston; Grandchildren, Carla Long, Jesse (Gwen) James, Angelia (Justin) Hance, David James; nieces and nephews, Christy Whitaker, Michael Adams Dan “Bo” Pearson, Daniel Pearson and, Brenda Albert, Dorothy Harbin, Patti Peters, Alene Bragg, Billie Hurt, Bobby James, Jeff James, and Ricky James. The family would like to give a special thank you to, Alyssa, Bethany, Jennifer and Faye and the staff at Signature Lifestyles Assisted Living. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Edgemont Church of God’s Senior Day Fund, 202 Clevenger Cutoff Rd., Newport, TN 37821. Frances thoroughly enjoyed her time at Senior Day with her church family and the community.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 17, 2026, 2:00pm at Hills Union Church where the family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 prior to the service. The interment committal service to follow in the church cemetery.
