Listen to Obituary

Elverie Gail Hunter, known lovingly to family and friends as Gail, passed away peacefully at the age of 69. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee and was the beloved wife of Randolph Hunter for over 47 years. She lived a life filled with warmth, laughter, and devotion to those she loved most.

Gail was the cherished daughter of Jean Ray, who preceded her in death in 2004. She has now been reunited with her brothers, Jimmy Ray and T.J. McClain, who also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her doting husband Randolph Hunter; caring sons Randy Lee Hunter (Lillian, Rachel) and Robbie Hunter (Christy); her adored grandchildren Audrina, Blake, Carlee, Chloe, and Jericho; and her dear siblings Marbeth Hill (Glen), Robert Ray (Elaine), Rick Vogan (Jody). She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews — Jenna Covington (Caleb), Ashley Fowler (Kyle), Robert Ray (Amanda), and Catherine Whitlock (Nikko) as well as a new great-niece, Ophelia, and many extended family and friends who will forever treasure her memory.

Gail had a passion for travel and adventure, especially cruises, where she found joy in exploring new places and sharing those experiences with family. She enjoyed Coca-Colas, playing games, and spending long hours talking on the phone with family. Her greatest happiness came from time spent with her loved ones. She had a feisty spirit, great sense of humor, and deep love for family that left an impression on everyone who knew her.

Gail was cremated through the coordinated efforts of Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City, Tennessee, and will be remembered in a memorial celebration surrounded by those who loved her most. She will be dearly missed.
