Following an extended illness, Edward Payson Jennings, II of Pleasant Grove, Alabama passed away at his residence, Sunday, April 27, 2025, at the age of 77, surrounded by his loved ones.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years, Linda Gay Jennings; daughter, Allison Sheffield (David); grandchildren, William and Isabella; sister-in-law, Brenda Smith (Jay); brother- in-law, Charlie Childers, along with several nieces, nephews and friends.
Edward was born in Morristown, Tennessee on June 11, 1947, to the late Edward and Virginia Jennings. He graduated from Carson Newman College and on February 10, 1970 began his active-duty officer school and flight training in the US Navy in Pensacola. While serving in the US Navy, he obtained the rank of Lieutenant in the Aircraft Maintenance office for 8 years before serving 6 additional years in the US Navy reserves. He was honorably discharged in February of 1978. In March of 1978 he began his career with Caolina By Products (Knoxville By Products), ultimately becoming General Manager until 1997. His work brought him to Alabama.
Edward was a published writer in various Enthusiast Magazines, “Corvette Enthusiast”, “American Hand Gunner” and “The Blue Press”. In 2011 he designed and crafted the Mark I, II, III, IV and V and sold thousands until January 2025 and produced and manufactured plugs for Smith and Wesson Revolvers. Edward was a lifetime member of the Boy Scouts of America, Order of the Arrow, Visual Honor Member and the Regional Director of Region V. He was known for his skills in smoking and grilling meat.
Preceding Edward in death are his parents; Edward Beattie and Virginia Griffith Jennings; sister, Joan Howard and brother-in-law, Tom Howard.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held Friday, May 2, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City, TN. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
