Donnie C Suttles

Donnie Suttles (1949- 2022).  A good, good man who never met a stranger and loved his family and his community went home to be with his Lord and Savior after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Donnie Suttles, a graduate of Maury High School, was born and raised in Dandridge, Tennessee.  After high school and marrying his wife of almost fifty (50) years, Donna Lindsey Suttles, he moved to Asheville, North Carolina. With an analytical mind and gift for numbers, Donnie learned the technology of early computer systems in the mid-1970s. That knowledge brought him back to Tennessee where he worked at Magnavox in Greeneville, Tennessee as a computer programmer and analyst until retirement.

After building a life for himself and his family, Donnie returned to his home community of Dandridge where he spent more than twenty years enjoying his much-loved family, sunrises and sunsets over Douglas Lake and the surrounding mountains, the occasional golf game and many days fishing.  Donnie knew there was no place better or more beautiful than his Shady Grove community.

He also loved Dandridge because it was inextricably tied to his primary love, his family, those who lived in the area and those who frequently returned for visits.  Donnie loved and cherished time with his wife Donna, who tirelessly loved and cared for him day in and out throughout his illness, his daughter Jennifer Suttles Messer, son Christopher (Chris) Suttles, son-in-law Luke Messer, brothers Kenneth Suttles, Robert (Bobby) Suttles and Gerald Suttles, sisters-in-law, Barbara Suttles and Judy Fox, his grandchildren Emma Messer, Ava Messer, Hudson Messer and Cecilia (Cece) Suttles and many special nieces and nephews. Donnie was proud of his family, and they too, surrounded and loved him.

Donnie is preceded in death by his mother and father, Maynard and Iva Suttles, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lonas and Ann Lindsey, sister-in-law, Mary Suttles, brother-in-law, Donavan (Donnie) Fox, and nephew, Robert (Robbie Suttles).

Donnie’s family and friends will receive friends Saturday, April 9th from 1:30-3:00 p.m. at Shady Grove United Methodist church with a funeral service and celebration of life immediately proceeding the service.  A graveside internment will follow at Dandridge Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Shriners Hospital for Children at donate.lovetotherescue.org
