Dana Roy Spath, age 66 of Dandridge, went into the arms of our Lord and Savior on Sunday May 5th, 2024, after a valiant battle with cancer.
A Nebraska transplant and forever fan of the Huskers, Dana Spath could name off any historical fact about his beloved football team. When he moved to East Tennessee, he found a love for the UT Vols; but more importantly, the love of his life, and his wife of nearly 24 years, Linda Spath. Dana had the calling to help those in need and would give the shirt off his back, shoes off his feet, and the last dime to his name to help others. He had a love of music; and enjoyed doing Karaoke with his daughter, Lauren Rimmer. Together, they spent many summers on the patio at Perkins as Pinky and Papa "D" Karaoke. He and his brother, Kevin Spath, owned Spath Bros. Excavation. He also owned Dana Spath Bobcat and Forestry Mulching Services with his best friend, Ernie Brewster. He enjoyed working for the Jefferson County Highway Department, where he met many more amazing friends who basically became family. He had many wonderful friends who loved him; and he was grateful for each one.
Dana was preceded in death by his stepfather, Frederick Hasenohrl; sister, Paula; and his father, Paul Wesley Spath. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Spath; his mother, Sylvia Hasenohrl; sister, Carrie (Steven) Case; brothers, Kevin (Sherri), and Michael Spath; children, Blake, DJ (April), & Jessica Spath (Jesse), Ashley (David) Hartrup, Cindy (David) Curington, Lance & Lauren Rimmer; grandchildren, Danica Shepard, Ashlee Forman, Kai Spath, Alex Norwood (Michaela), Alexis Curington, and Kira, Laureleigh Rimmer; great-grandchildren, Silas Curington & Lumen Norwood; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family & friends.
The family will receive friends from 3PM to 5PM, Friday, May 10, 2024 at Chestnut Grove Community Church. A funeral service will follow at 5PM with Bro. Murrel Jarnagin officiating. Interment will take place at 11AM Saturday, May 11, 2024 at the Swann’s Chapel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers monetary donations may be given to the family.
