Charles Norman Johnson of London, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the age of 90, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength, boundless generosity, and unwavering grace. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Jeanette Chandler Johnson, his daughter, Terry Johnson; his son, Norman Johnson & wife Kelly; two grandchildren, Hunter Johnson & wife Rainey, and Savannah Martin & husband Tyler; two great-grandchildren, Hawk and Charlotte Martin; along with a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Amanda Johnson and his brother Robert (Bob) Johnson.  In 1955, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served as a Fire Control Technician aboard the USS Hamner, where he maintained the advanced radar and computer systems used to aim the ship’s heavy guns. He patrolled the Pacific during the Korean War before receiving his honorable discharge in 1958.  Following his U.S. Navy service, he completed his college degree in civil engineering from Indiana Institute of Technology.  Charles retired in 1988 as a Chief Engineer with the Tennessee Valley Authority, where he was responsible for engineering, construction, and maintenance of various projects. Following retirement, he continued serving the communities where he lived as a structural engineer in private practice.  He was a devoted family man who loved sailing, long walks, and the open road. His adventurous spirit led him to travel across the U.S. and achieve his goal of visiting all 50 states.  A military ceremony will be held at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026. Following the ceremony, the family will receive friends at his home in Dandridge, TN from 2:00-4:00 p.m.  ARRANGEMENTS BY FARRAR FUNERAL HOME, DANDRIDGE, TN
