CHARLES EDWARD (CHARLIE) GASS, age 85, of Jefferson City, TN passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023 at his residence. Charlie graduated from Jefferson High School and the Tennessee Department of Safety, after which he served 25 years as a Tennessee State Trooper, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed woodworking and traveling in his retirement. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jefferson City and was Scoutmaster of Troop 76 sponsored by the church for 17 years. Charlie was the last surviving member of the Ernest “Doc” and Callie Snow Gass family. He was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Conard (Austre), Paul Snow (Eloise), Peggy (William Denton), Kathryn (John Bible), Maxine (James Minter), Jim (Bernice), Kenneth, and Bob (Mary). He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Linda Talley Gass; sons, Michael (Beth Rushing), Brian (Lori Stephens), Patrick (Susan Gass), Brent (Susannah Shumate); grandchildren, Rebecca Balmes (Gabriel), Melissa Rushing, Mason and Forrest Stephens, Jacob, Noah and Grace Gass; great-grandchildren, Asher, Noah, Oliver and Eli Balmes; sister-in-law, Janie Talley Gass (Kenneth); and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2023 at Farrar Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Ellen DiGiosia officiating. Family and friends will gather at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Farrar Funeral Home to proceed to Westview Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service with Albert Lang officiating.
