Listen to Obituary

Brenda Morrison McClure, age 84, of Jefferson City, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on October 22, 2025, after a brief illness. Brenda loved Jesus Christ, her family, and her church, First Baptist Church, Dandridge.

Born on October 26, 1940, in Hawkins County, TN, Brenda was the fourth daughter of the late C.H. and Pearl Morrison. She was born into a large and loving family, one of fourteen children. The foundation of unconditional love modeled by her parents and her closeness with her siblings were treasured by Brenda throughout her life.

After marrying and raising two young daughters, Brenda enrolled in Carson Newman College, earning an elementary education degree in 1970. She then began a long and dedicated career as a teacher in Hamblen County Schools. Brenda modeled her love of learning for countless students, treating them as she would her own children and grandchildren. Encouraged by her commitment to education, she went on to earn a master’s degree from Union Commonwealth University in 1976, and often held leadership positions related to her role as an educator. After retiring, Brenda enjoyed several golden years filled with travel abroad, and quality time with her siblings and friends. She poured her attention into her grandchildren and, more recently, great-grandchildren.

Brenda was preceded in death by her beloved first husband of 42 years, Alfred McClure, her parents, son-in-law David Kucera, and ten of her siblings. She is survived by her loving husband of eight years, Larry Baumgardner; her devoted daughters, Joy (Marty) Allen and Cathy McClure; stepchildren Chris (Trudie) Baumgardner and Joyce (Hayden) Vega. Brenda was an esteemed grandmother to Amy (Drew) Story, James Allen, Rebekah Allen, Sam Kucera, and Colin (Dana) Kucera, and two great-grandsons. She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses: Austin (Carol) Morrison, Harry (Juanita) Morrison, Diane Wright, Judy Morrison, Gladys Morrison, Alice Morrison and a host of cherished nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at First Baptist Church Dandridge. The family will receive friends from noon until 1:00 p.m., followed immediately by a service celebrating her life at 1:00 p.m., and is officiated by Dr. Justin Terrell. A private family burial will be held later. The family wishes to thank Dr. Rick Carter of Summit Medical Group and the team at Smoky Mountain Hospice for their committed and compassionate care for Brenda.
