Billy Layman

Billy "Red" Layman, age 62 of Dandridge, passed away Monday, November 25, 2024 at Tennova North Knox Medical Center.

Billy worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Jefferson County Highway Department, most recently driving a dump truck. Prior to that, he had worked many years for the Dandridge Water Department. Even as a child, Billy loved exploring the farm he lived on. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved camping and being on the lake. Most importantly, however, he loved his family. Billy will be remembered as a wonderful son, a loving father and grandfather; and a friend to many.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thurman & Nelma Edmonds and Holbert & Dora Layman; uncle, Charlie Fain; and aunt, Mary Edmonds Fain; and several pets through the years, including his beloved dogs, Sage & Bear.

He is survived by his parents, Gerald & Joyce Edmonds Layman; his daughter, Taylor Layman; grandson, Jake Willis; his former wife, but forever friend, Tammy Layman; stepdaughter, Brea Bowman; step-grandson, Ethan Overholt; numerous friends, and his work "family".

A Celebration of Life will take place at 6PM, Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge. The family will receive friends from 4PM to 6PM prior to the service.

Farrar Funeral Home is honored to serve the Layman family.
