Betty Kay Reneau Shipley

Betty Kay Reneau Shipley, age 71 of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at her home on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

She was a member of Edwards Chapel Church in the Pines; and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved quilting, gardening, and spending time with her family. She also loved cooking, canning, and baking; and was the lead biscuit maker at Hardee's for many years.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Ethel Reneau. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of nearly 60 years, Charles C. "Sam" Shipley; children, Charles (Amy) Shipley and Anthony (April) Shipley; grandchildren, Samuel (Malinn) Shipley, Nicole (Neal) Doss, and Samantha Shipley; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Theresa (Glenn) Ray, Kathy Ball, Michelle Shipley, Tommy Shipley, and Lee Shipley; special nieces, Wendy Parton & Audrea Ogle; as well as several other nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Pastor Phillip Ruth will officiate the funeral service at 6PM, Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge. The family will receive friends from 4PM to 6PM prior to the service. Burial will take place at 1PM Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Hebron Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Jefferson City.

The family would like to recognize Amedisys Hospice, specifically Nicole Campbell & Adam Smith, for going above and beyond to honor her wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her family; or to the charity of your choice.
