Betty Jo Moore

It is with heavy hearts we share the passing of Betty Jo Moore. She was an admired wife, mother, Meme and friend. Betty Jo had a smile that would light up the room. She was the kind of person that made everyone feel loved and welcome. Betty Jo had an enormous heart for helping others. Betty Jo was born at Allen-Baker Clinic on February 12, 1952. She grew up in White Pine and graduated from White Pine High School where she found and married her loving husband of 54 years, Roger. Betty Jo is proceeded in death by her parents JC and Ruth Lane. She is survived by her daughter, Letitia (Dusty) Cox and son Nick Moore; grandchildren: Jake (Brynnan) Cox, Joe Cox, Dawson Moore, and Jay Cox; sister: Rita (Tony) Potter. Betty Jo was also cherished by her brothers and sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends that she considers family. Betty Jo enjoyed helping her fellow Jefferson County residents as the Deputy Assessor of Jefferson County and as the Director of the White Pine Public Library. Her love for the public shined in her service. She is a long-time member of Leadvale Baptist Church. Though we mourn our loss deeply, we celebrate the warmth and gentle spirit that made her life a blessing to all that knew her. Betty Jo’s light will live in each of us as a reminder of the love and smiles she shared so freely. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Leadvale Baptist Church, or White Pine Public Library.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 29, 2025, between the hours if 5-7:00pm at Leadvale Baptist Church. A Celebration of Betty Jo's Life will be held at 7:00pm at the church following with Rev. Brandon Cate and Rev. Charlie Harkleroad officiating.
