Barbara Reed, a cherished member of her community and devoted family matriarch, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 5, 2026. Born February 19, 1942, Barbara’s life was marked by dedication, love, and an enduring spirit that touched all who knew her.
Barbara had a fulfilling career, retiring from Douglas Cherokee Head Start where she made a lasting impact on many young lives. Her passion for nurturing extended beyond her professional life into her many personal interests. An avid animal lover, Barbara’s home was a sanctuary filled with warmth and care. She embraced numerous hobbies that reflected her nurturing nature and curiosity about the world, including genealogy, vegetable gardening, canning, and reading. Above all, Barbara found immeasurable joy in her grandchildren, whom she adored deeply.
Barbara is survived by her beloved children: Tim Reed, Tammy Edwards, Greg (Dieonne) Reed, and Angie Reed. Her grandchildren, Landon Sanders, Grant Reed, Taylor Reed, Wade Reed, and several other family members continue to carry forward her legacy of kindness and strength.
She will be fondly remembered by those whose lives she touched, including friends and family who admired her dedication and warmth.
Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy Reed, as well as her parents, Clara Lane Strange and Marion “Monk” Strange, along with several other family members.
The family has requested that In Lieu of Flowers memorial donations be made to Noah's Arc, P.O. Box 1031 Talbott, TN 37877.
A visitation will be held on June 7, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Leadvale Baptist Church, located at 874 Leadvale Church Road in White Pine, Tennessee. The funeral service will immediately follow at the same location from 4:00 PM. A graveside service will take place the next day, June 8, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM at White Pine Cemetery, 1605 Moyers Street, White Pine, Tennessee.
Barbara Reed’s life was a testament to grace, compassion, and devotion to family. Her presence will be dearly missed, yet warmly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
