Angela "Angie" Rawlings Mitchell of Talbott passed away on August 2, 2026, at the age of 85.
Born on May 19, 1941, in Maryville, Tennessee, Angie was the daughter of Herbert and Eileen Davis Rawlings. She graduated from Harriman High School in 1959 and continued her education at Tennessee Technological University. Angie retired from Carson-Newman College in 2003 after years of dedicated service.
On August 10, 1962, Angie married the love of her life, William "Bill" Mitchell. They enjoyed nearly 64 years of marriage, loving and supporting each other through all stages of life.
A faithful member of Community Fellowship in Christ Church in Talbott, Angie found great joy in serving as a member of the church choir. Her faith was the foundation of her life.
Angie was a devoted supporter of Carson-Newman football and, before that, Mars Hill College football, where she proudly cheered on her “coach” on the sidelines. She was an avid reader, found great joy in music, and never passed up an opportunity to dance.
Above all, Angie will be remembered for the love she shared with her family and friends and her unwavering faith in God. She leaves behind the strong legacy of a life well lived.
Angie was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Eileen Davis Rawlings, and sister Kaye Branson. She is survived by her husband, Bill Mitchell, and their children, Tony Mitchell (Sherry) of Talbott, Missy Roberts (Rich) of Gallatin, Marcy Thompson (Tre’) of Birmingham AL, her grandchildren, Lauren Mitchell, William Mitchell, Abby Owen (Kole), Linzee Arias (Caleb), Richmond Roberts (Ansley), Knox Roberts, Hardy Thompson, Julia Thompson, and Mitchell Thomspon, and great grandchildren, Grace Mitchell, Carson and Henry Owen.
The family wishes to whole heartedly thank everyone at Charter Senior Living in Jefferson City, as well as Caris Healthcare in Morristown for the special love and care they have given Angie over the last several years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Flourish Memory Care at Charter Senior Living (550 Deer View Way Jefferson City, TN 37760).
A visitation will be held from 4:00p.m. until 6:00p.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at Community Fellowship in Christ Church (515 Lakeshore Rd Talbott, TN 37877) with a funeral service to follow with Rev.
