Alton Eugene Horner

Alton Eugene “Big Al” Horner, age 79, of Talbott, TN passed away on August 20, 2026 after a lingering illness. He loved to spend his time riding bikes and camping. Al also loved Harleys and ham radios. He served in the Air Force for four years before serving as a Chief Master Sergeant in the Tennessee Air National Guard.

Alton is preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Horner; step-son, Jeff Gann; parents, Claude and Wanda Horner; brother, Randy Horner; and foster brother, James Roland.

He is survived by his son, Shawn (Lavinia) Horner; stepson, Tim Gann; grandchild, A.J. Horner; step-grandchildren, Amber DeStefano, Joshua Gann, and Lindsey Gann-Evans; sister, Beth Horner; several nieces, nephews, and other family members; and caregiver, Dee Hester.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnels to Towers.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 25, 2026 from 4:00p.m. until 6:00p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City with a 6:00p.m. funeral service to follow with Pastor Richard Snowden officiating. A 11:00a.m. military graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
