A sailor's prayer
My brother Russ left us peacefully on the morning of June 8th and whether he knew it or not, his passing left ripples in the sea and hearts of many. I knew him as Russ, others and shipmates may recognize him as Allen. For some, he was Rusty. For all those he knew and loved, my prayers are with you. For my brother, I wish only for safe passage, fair winds and following seas. I hope you’ve already found mom and you two are catching up on all that has happened over the years since she's been gone. Proceeded in death by our mom, Mary Dial Lewis, Russ is survived by our dad, Lt. Col. USAF (Retired) Allen Russell Lewis, Sr. our bonus mom Carol Ramsey Lewis, and me, little sister, Sarah (Scott) Persinger as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and others in his life over the 60 plus years he roamed this world. As a career Navy veteran (retired September 2001) and an Air Force son, he traveled much in his life, coming to rest on Cherokee Lake in Rutledge, TN. Oh, the stories he is surely telling now, as he is finally at peace and in comfort. Love you, my brother, Sass
A note to all, Russ will be interred at East TN State Veterans Cemetery at a future date.
