Alfred Ballard, age 81 a lifelong resident of White Pine, passed away at UT Medical Center on Tuesday, March 24, 2020. He was a member of Lawson’s Chapel United Methodist Church, he was retired from BASF and Carson-Newman University. He is Past Worthy Patron of the Jefferson Chapter #41 Order of The Eastern Star, Leadvale Lodge # 390 F&AM and a member of KCCH Scottish Rite and a Shriner at the Kerbela Temple. Alfred received the Honor of being named a Knight Commander and received the 33rd Degree in 2007. Alfred’s favorite pastime was going to Cracker Barrell. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years Betty Sue Ballard his parents, AR and Margaret Ballard and sister Bernell Trent. He is survived by his daughter Samantha (Joe) Kenley, special granddaughter, Kaitlynn (Dustin) Earls, brothers and sisters, Helen Gilbert, James Roy (Pat) Ballard, Barbara (Kenneth) Short, Patricia William, Alma Trent and Carolyn (Albert) Ordway. Alfred also leaves behind several nieces and nephews along with the Cate Family who made him feel like he was one of them, and several friends. Alfred will be laid to rest with the love of his life in a private graveside service. The family has requested that In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial Donations be made to charity that was very close to his heart: Shriner’s Hospital at www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org or to Lawson’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
