Mary Ann La Forest

Mary Ann La Forest passed away peacefully, after a long battle with cancer at her home in White Pine, Tennessee, on September 17, 2020. Mary Ann La Forest was born on June 6, 1950 in Detroit Michigan. Mary Ann was predeceased by her parents, John and Marion La Forest and her brothers John and Eugene La Forest. Mary Ann’s legacy will live on through her two sister in-laws, Helen and Pat La Forest, her nieces and nephews, Joyce Pakos, John La Forest, Lisa La Forest, and Eugene La Forest. A woman strong in faith, she kept a verse from the bible within her pocketbook. Ecclesiastes 3:1-22 “ 1:To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven 2:A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; 3:A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; 4:A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;… Mary Ann La Forest lived her life with these words knowing that the secret to life was not in the timing of things but rather trusting Gods’ plan and through loving him she not only discovered the strength of His love, but accepted and appreciated God’s timing, even at the hour of her own death. She lived a modest life for 20 years in Tennessee where she met friends who became her family. Phyllis Brooks, Jennifer and Wayne Miller and their daughter Madison who became an adopted niece to Mary Ann. Prior to Tennessee, Mary Ann lived in Florida and Michigan. During her time of illness, she never complained, nor burden others with her disease, she tried to carry on as things were normal until she could not anymore. That was just how she was, never troubled anyone with her burdens but always lending an ear for yours when in need. Her care givers all sated that they "loved Miss Mary” and she made a huge impact on their lives in such a short period of time, as she did with those who knew her for years. Mary Ann will come home to her final resting place in Detroit Michigan where her ashes will be buried with her beloved brother John La Forest.
