Agnes Watkins Farrar

AGNES WATKINS FARRAR, age 96, of Jefferson City, TN went to be in the arms of the Heavenly Father at her home on Friday, March 20, 2020. She was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church of Jefferson City, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She graduated from Baroness Erlanger School of Nursing in 1944, and was the oldest living graduate of the school. She was a dedicated nurse who served with love and compassion for over 60 years. She was a loving mother and grandmother, a loving friend to many, and like a mother to many others. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James “Jim” Farrar, to whom she dedicated her life in caring for; parents, Britt and Wilma Bible Watkins; son, Bill Farrar; sister and best friend, Nannie “Bertha” Watkins Cox. She is survived by her sons, Russ Farrar and wife Marion, Britt Farrar and wife Stacey; grandchildren, Clay, Jennifer, Tyler (Lasha), Taylor (Cassie), Kate and Gage; step-grandchildren, Ashley, Abby, Kaidence, Kambri and Ashton; brother, W. B. “Bud” Watkins and wife Betty; many special nieces, nephews, cousins and people that she considered family. Special thanks to all the people too numerous to mention who loved and cared for her. Given current national conditions and the family’s concern for the health and well-being of others, she will be interred in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery following a private service for the immediate family. A memorial service will be planned to include extended family and friends at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 1147 Talbott Kansas Road, Talbott, TN 37877, or to First United Methodist Church of Jefferson City, 2011 Branner Avenue, Jefferson City, TN 37760. Arrangements by Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City, TN 865-475-3892 www.farrarfuneralhome.com
