"Ted" E. Kryder

Retired Captain Theodore E. Kryder, age 85 of White Pine, “Flew West” on Thursday, June 14, 2018. Ted as he was affectionately known, was the first born of Theodore and Margaret Kryder on October 1, 1932 in McClure, Ohio. Upon graduation from high school, he joined the Air Force, where he served 4 years and this tenure began his flying career that persisted until his retirement from United Airlines in 1992. After his marriage to Laura Hardin Lacy Kryder, they retired to White Pine. They enjoyed traveling the US and various places in Europe before settling down and splitting their time between White Pine and Fuquay Varina, NC. Laura’s 4 children and 6 grandchildren will mis Ted’s enthusiasm and joyful outlook as well as his exceptional mechanical skills. “Ted can fix anything” was a common opinion of many. Capt. Kryder loved all things pertaining to airplanes and flight. He was a Certified Flight Instructor and was able to share his expertise and passion with hundreds of people over the course of his happy and productive lifetime. Ted was a generous man, known for helping the down and out and never asked or expected the favor returned. He always enjoyed the simple life and looked at the sunny side, sharing his joy and enthusiasm for GOD’S WORLD. Of those left to mourn his loss and carry on his legacy of joyful living are his son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Laurie, Ted’s grandchildren, Claire and Zach and 2 great-grandchildren all of Wisconson, Ted’s youngest son Brad survives him as well, step-dad, Arnold Miller, sisters, Jane Greene and Linda Reifers, brother, Chuck Kryder and several nieces, nephews and other family members of Ohio and Indiana. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018, 3:00pm at First United Methodist Church in White Pine, with the Rev. Chris Ray officiating, family will receive friends from 2-3:00pm prior to the funeral service. Graveside Interment will follow at White Pine Cemetery, with Military Honors given by the US Air Force and VFW Post # 5266. The family has requested that In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial Donations be made to either the White Pine Fire Department or First United Methodist Church.
