Robert "Carroll" Allen

Robert “Carroll” Allen, age 87, of White Pine, TN, born November 30, 1926, passed away peacefully surrounded by members of his family on October 26, 2014. He was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, Tennessee. He was the second of three children born to Howard E. and Elva Musser Allen. He graduated from White Pine High School with the class of 1944 and volunteered for service in the United States Navy shortly thereafter. He served in the Construction Battalion (Sea Bees) in the South Pacific during World War II and was honorably discharged in July of 1946. He was married to Eula Moyers Allen on August 3, 1946 in Morristown, Tennessee. Together, they raised Janice Carol Allen (May 30, 1950 – November 9, 2010), and William Steven (Steve) Allen. He was baptized on April 18, 1951 at First Baptist Church in White Pine, Tennessee and was ordained as a deacon on September 26, 1976. During his years of dedicated membership, he served as a Sunday School Teacher and in numerous positions of leadership. Along with Eula and Janice, he owned and operated Truck Stops in Grainger and Jefferson counties for many years until his retirement. Post retirement, he worked with his son at Rogers’ Petroleum until 2002. He joined VFW Post 5266 in 1946 and held a Lifetime Membership. He was a 64 year member of Leadvale Masonic Lodge #390 and became a 32nd Degree Mason at the Scottish Rite Temple in Knoxville in 1957. He was also a 44 year member of the Kerbella Shrine Temple in Knoxville. He was a member of the White Pine City Council. He was predeceased by daughter Janice Carol Allen; parents, Howard E. and Elva Allen; mother-in-law, Anna Lou Graves; brother, Arnold Allen (June) and sister Edith Jean Allen. He is survived by his wife, Eula; son, Steve (Carol); granddaughters, Erica Allen Henegar (Travis) of Kennesaw, Georgia, Stephanie Kirsten Allen of Knoxville; great granddaughters, Abigail Leigh and Alexandra Caroline Henegar. He is also survived by nephews, Eddie and Jim Allen, and niece Linda Allen Fleenor (Jack). The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 PM at Farrrar Funeral home in Jefferson City, 411 W. Broadway Blvd. on Saturday, November 1, 2014. Masonic service will begin at 3 PM and the funeral service will follow, with the Rev. Jerry DeZearn officiating. Family and friends will gather at 1:45 PM on Sunday afternoon for a 2 PM entombment service with military honors at Hamblen Memory Gardens, 5335 Old Kentucky Road, Russellville, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to Senior Citizens of White Pine, 1824 Maple Street, White Pine, TN 37890, or Leadvale Masonic Lodge #390, 1103 Ridge Street, White Pine, TN 37890.
